Love's Secret Dreams
60
Time's Playground
When we talked
I felt at home
Secrets more open
Dreams more real
Love more honest
Time was our playground
We were its master, until it broke free and
Trapped us in life’s quick freeze
Silent
Gazing out
Waiting for the thaw of spring
To breathe again
The scent of flowers
To breathe again
Love’s secret dreams
When we talked

Veterans
You pegged me right
From the beginning
I tried to protest…
Talking too much
Pretending you were wrong
But you knew
You wouldn’t let me get away with it
And I, laughing,
Yielded, delighted you knew
Two veterans
Taken with each other’s reticence
Quiet assurance with the other’s craft
Both disarmed by the
Discovery of innocence
Children under the armor

The Gallery
Such promise, such impossibility
Together in a smile as beautiful as the day
Tiptoeing through my thoughts
Washing over my heart
Wandering in the side streets of my memory
I turn away
The sound of you is a soft caress on my shoulders
Your face is framed in the
Images of my mind
Long after you’d gone
Your smile lingered and
I, alone in the gallery
Admiring each trace,
Redrawing as the light fades
Again and again
You smile

I love the metaphoric descriptions Winsome! Really clever and fluent - the meaning comes right home.
Absolutely beautiful poem. I think you are very talented, not that I'm an expert but that poem has such depth of feeling.
Great job Winsome!
Winsome, truley wonderful poems. Thank you so much for sharing.
Great poems here! Thank you! Encore!
There's a laid-back kind of atmosphere in your poems that I relish. Thanks for sharing :D
Beautiful. Your words paint images and the descriptions you use capture each situation so very well. A joy to read and savour.
beautiful. it's so nice to see a man express these feelings.
and any man with a pre-raphaelite image on his hub page has my attention. thanks for sharing with us. I know the feeling of sharing such an intimate part of you, but it's a wonderful gift to share.
anything i add would just be an understatement and not nearly enough, so i'll just tell you that these poems made my heart full of quiet feeling, like maybe if kittens could walk across it and you could feel it, and when words arranged on a page can do that to a reader, that means they are spectacular. rating UP but i didn't need to say that either.
well, that was the most heart-warmingest thing i could think of at the time :)
These poems are beautiful and shows what LOVE is and should be. The feelings you put into these reflect a man with a very romantic and passionate heart. I felt your soul was let loose when you penned these. You are a poet an artist with wonder. Thanks for the share my friend.
Beautiful! Thank you Winsome!
Winsome, I clicked on this hub like it was a box of chocolates, not knowing what I would get.
I was rewarded by 3 lovely sweet pieces with warm creamy centers, and I say "Bon, bon".
You do know what love is...it's apparent you've been there and lived to tell the tale.
These poems were welcome and well done.

I love 'Veterans'! It is so beautiful -- I might have to 'steal' a copy of it. :)

OMG Winsome these poems are just lovely. Truly amazing choice of words. I am bookmarking this one for sure.
I'm relishing in the words, "to breathe again, and from you other poem,
"Discovery of innocence
Children under the armor"
Just beautiful!
